Sweet Chili Baked Salmon
This recipe is a simple and flavorful way to bake salmon fillets with a sweet and slightly spicy glaze.
Ingredients:
- 2 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each), skin-on or skinless
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: Sesame seeds, chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, lime juice, garlic, and ginger. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Place salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the glaze generously over the top of the salmon.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes for skinless fillets or 15-17 minutes for skin-on fillets, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through. During the last few minutes of baking, you can brush the salmon with additional glaze for a caramelized finish.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro, if desired.
Tips:
- For a thicker glaze, whisk together 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water and add it to the glaze mixture before brushing it on the salmon.
- If you don’t have fresh ginger, you can substitute 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger.
- To test for doneness, gently press the center of the salmon with a finger. If it flakes easily and feels slightly firm, it’s cooked through.
- Serve your Sweet Chili Baked Salmon with rice, roasted vegetables, or a side salad.
Additional variations:
- Add a kick of heat: Include a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze for a spicier flavor.
- Make it garlicky: Add an extra clove of garlic for a more pronounced garlic taste.
- Honey alternative: Substitute brown sugar for honey for a richer sweetness.
