Sweet Chili Baked Salmon

This recipe is a simple and flavorful way to bake salmon fillets with a sweet and slightly spicy glaze.

Ingredients:

  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each), skin-on or skinless
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Sesame seeds, chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish

Cooking Guide:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, lime juice, garlic, and ginger. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Place salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the glaze generously over the top of the salmon.
  4. Bake for 13-15 minutes for skinless fillets or 15-17 minutes for skin-on fillets, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through. During the last few minutes of baking, you can brush the salmon with additional glaze for a caramelized finish.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro, if desired.

Tips:

  • For a thicker glaze, whisk together 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water and add it to the glaze mixture before brushing it on the salmon.
  • If you don’t have fresh ginger, you can substitute 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger.
  • To test for doneness, gently press the center of the salmon with a finger. If it flakes easily and feels slightly firm, it’s cooked through.
  • Serve your Sweet Chili Baked Salmon with rice, roasted vegetables, or a side salad.

Additional variations:

  • Add a kick of heat: Include a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze for a spicier flavor.
  • Make it garlicky: Add an extra clove of garlic for a more pronounced garlic taste.
  • Honey alternative: Substitute brown sugar for honey for a richer sweetness.
