Philly Cheesesteak Foil Packs: A Delicious and Easy Weeknight Meal

Craving a classic Philly cheesesteak but short on time? These Philly Cheesesteak Foil Packs are the perfect solution! They’re packed with juicy steak, tender veggies, and melty cheese, all cooked to perfection in a single packet. Plus, minimal cleanup makes them a win for busy weeknights.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 large sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil

Cooking Guide:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease each sheet of aluminum foil with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, onion, bell pepper, garlic (if using), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat.
  3. Divide the seasoned vegetables evenly among the prepared foil sheets. Top each with a quarter of the sliced steak.
  4. Fold the foil sheets into sealed packets, making sure to create a tight seal around the edges.
  5. Place the foil packets on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the steak is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
  6. Carefully open the foil packets (watch out for steam!) and top each with a slice of provolone cheese. Return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings, like sliced avocado, sour cream, or hot sauce.

Tips:

  • For a heartier meal, add sliced mushrooms or chopped potatoes to the vegetable mix.
  • If you prefer a cheesier experience, add a dollop of cream cheese along with the provolone.
  • Thinly sliced flank steak can be substituted for ribeye.
  • Want a little char on your veggies? Saute them in a pan with a drizzle of olive oil for a few minutes before assembling the foil packets.
