Parmesan Baked Shrimp
This recipe is a simple and delicious way to prepare shrimp. The parmesan cheese creates a crispy, flavorful crust, and the garlic adds a wonderful aroma.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined (around 21-25 shrimp per pound)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- ⅓ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. This will help the parmesan cheese adhere better.
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Toss the shrimp in the mixture to coat evenly.
- Spread the shrimp in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the shrimp.
- Bake for 7-8 minutes, then switch your oven to broil. Broil the shrimp for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the parmesan cheese is golden brown and the shrimp are cooked through and pink. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges for squeezing over the shrimp.
Tips:
- For a richer flavor, use melted butter instead of olive oil.
- You can add a pinch of dried oregano or thyme to the spice mix for extra flavor.
- If you don’t have panko breadcrumbs, you can use regular breadcrumbs or crushed crackers.
- For a more visually appealing presentation, serve the shrimp over a bed of rice or quinoa.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. However, shrimp is best enjoyed fresh.
