Heavenly Garlic Butter Bread Rolls
Warm, soft dinner rolls overflowing with garlic butter – what’s not to love? This recipe is perfect for beginners and experienced bakers alike. Not only are these rolls easy to make, but the aroma that fills your kitchen as they bake is truly irresistible.
Ingredients:
- Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (around 110°F)
- 3 teaspoons active dry yeast
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- Garlic Butter:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
Cooking Guide:
- Make the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Stir in sugar, flour, egg, and salt. Using a dough hook attachment on your stand mixer or by hand on a lightly floured surface, knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes with a stand mixer or 15 minutes by hand. Add softened butter a tablespoon at a time, kneading well after each addition.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape and Second Rise: Punch down the dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball. Arrange rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake and Brush: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, garlic, and parsley (if using). Brush tops of rolls with garlic butter. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with remaining garlic butter while still hot.
- Serve: Enjoy these soft and flavorful rolls warm, alongside your favorite soup, salad, or main course.
Tips:
- For extra fluffy rolls, use whole milk in the dough.
- If you don’t have fresh parsley, you can substitute with a pinch of dried thyme.
- Leftover rolls can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Warm them slightly before serving.
- Freeze leftover rolls for longer storage. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
