Crushed Garlic Butter Steak Bites
This recipe is a quick and flavorful way to enjoy steak. The crushed garlic adds a burst of garlicky goodness, while the butter creates a tender and juicy steak bite.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil, or olive oil
- 6 cloves fresh garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces (about 1-inch cubes)
- Sea salt, to taste
- 2 tablespoons clarified butter or ghee
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped chives (optional)
Cooking Guide:
- Heat the oil in a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the crushed garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it will turn bitter.
- Add the steak bites to the pan in a single layer. Sear each side for 3-4 minutes, or until browned. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your pan. Don’t overcrowd the pan, or the steak will steam instead of sear.
- Once the steak bites are seared to your liking, reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Add the clarified butter or ghee to the pan and swirl to coat the steak and garlic.
- Season with sea salt to taste.
- Cook for an additional minute or two, or until the steak reaches your desired doneness. (For medium-rare, the internal temperature should be around 145°F).
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley and chives.
Tips:
- Marinating the Steak: For extra flavor, you can marinate the steak in your favorite marinade for 30 minutes to an hour before cooking.
- Choosing your Steak: While sirloin is a good option for this recipe, flank steak, skirt steak, or even leftover steak can also be used. These cuts tend to be a little less tender, so marinating can be especially helpful.
- Don’t Overcook: Steak bites cook quickly. Be careful not to overcook them, or they will become dry and tough.
- Serving Suggestions: Serve these steak bites immediately with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or rice. They can also be served on skewers for a fun appetizer.
- Leftovers: Leftover steak bites can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet over medium heat until warmed through.
