Recipe: Chocolate Sourdough Banana Bread
Ingredients:
* 1 cup (200g) active sourdough starter (fed and ripe)
* 1/2 cup (100g) unsalted butter, softened
* 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
* 2 large eggs
* 2 ripe bananas, mashed
* 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 cup (30g) dark chocolate chips (at least 60% cocoa)
* 1/4 cup (30g) heavy cream
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/4 cup (30g) chopped walnuts (optional)
* 1/4 cup (30g) chocolate chips (for the glaze)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9×5-inch (23x13cm) loaf pan and set it aside.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, butter, sugar, and eggs. Mix until smooth and creamy.
3. Add the mashed bananas, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
4. Fold in the dark chocolate chips, heavy cream, and vanilla extract.
5. If using walnuts, fold them in at this stage.
