Low-Carb Cauliflower Steak Pizza
This recipe creates a delicious and satisfying pizza on a cauliflower crust, perfect for a low-carb comfort food fix.
Ingredients:
- 1 head of cauliflower
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (sugar-free recommended for low-carb)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional toppings: chopped pepperoni, sliced mushrooms, roasted red peppers, chopped onions
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Wash and dry the cauliflower head. Cut the cauliflower into steaks about 1-inch thick.
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss the cauliflower steaks in the mixture to coat them evenly.
- Arrange the cauliflower steaks on the prepared baking sheet. Roast for 20-25 minutes per side, or until tender and slightly golden brown.
- While the cauliflower roasts, prepare your toppings. You can pre-cook meats like pepperoni or sausage if desired.
- Once the cauliflower steaks are cooked, remove them from the oven and flip them over. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on each steak.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the pizza sauce. Add your desired toppings.
- Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh chopped basil or parsley (optional).
Tips:
- For extra crispy cauliflower crusts, broil them for a couple of minutes after the cheese melts. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning.
- Make sure your cauliflower steaks are dry before roasting to ensure even browning.
- Get creative with your toppings! This recipe is a great base for all your favorite pizza ingredients.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
- To make this recipe vegan, use vegan cheese and skip the pepperoni. You can also use a vegan pizza sauce.
