Recipe: Banana Bread with Maple Syrup Topping

Ingredients:

For the Banana Bread:

* 3 large ripe bananas, mashed
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 tsp baking powder
* 1/2 tsp baking soda
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 2 large eggs
* 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
* 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

For the Maple Syrup Topping:

* 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
* 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
* 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, combine mashed bananas, sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in chopped walnuts, if using.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
6. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
7. For the Maple Syrup Topping, melt the butter and maple syrup in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the topping thickens slightly.
8. Drizzle the Maple Syrup Topping over the cooled banana bread and sprinkle with sea salt.

Cook Time: 55-60 minutes

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
