Banana Bread Trifle Dessert Recipe

Ingredients:

For the banana bread:

* 3 large ripe bananas, mashed
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 tsp baking powder
* 1/2 tsp baking soda
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 2 large eggs
* 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

For the whipped cream:

* 1 cup heavy whipping cream
* 2 tbsp granulated sugar
* 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

For the caramel sauce:

* 1 cup granulated sugar
* 1/2 cup light corn syrup
* 1/2 cup heavy cream
* 1 tsp sea salt
* 1/2 tsp unsalted butter

For the assembly:

* 12-15 slices of banana bread
* 1 cup whipped cream
* 1 cup caramel sauce
* Fresh sliced bananas, for garnish
* Chocolate shavings or chopped nuts, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
3. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely.
4. In a separate bowl, whip heavy whipping cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
5. To make the caramel sauce, combine sugar, corn syrup, and 1/4 cup water in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until the caramel turns golden brown. Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream, sea salt, and unsalted butter. Let cool slightly.
6. To assemble the dessert, cut the banana bread into 1-inch cubes.
7. In a large glass or crystal bowl, create a layer of banana bread cubes. Top with a layer of whipped cream, followed by a drizzle of caramel sauce.
8. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with a layer of whipped cream and caramel sauce on top.
9. Garnish with fresh sliced bananas and chocolate shavings or chopped nuts, if desired.
10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.

Cook Time: 55-60 minutes
Prep Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes

Variations:

* Use chocolate chips or chocolate chunks in the banana bread for a chocolate banana bread trifle.
* Substitute the caramel sauce with dulce de leche or honey for a different flavor profile.
* Add chopped nuts, such as walnuts or pecans, to the banana bread mixture for added texture.
* Use coconut cream instead of heavy whipping cream for a dairy-free whipped cream.
* Replace the banana bread with pound cake or French toast for a different texture.
