Easy Baked Salmon with Lemon and Herbs
This recipe is a simple and flavorful way to bake salmon fillets. It’s perfect for a weeknight meal and can be easily customized with your favorite herbs and spices.
Ingredients:
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or baking dish.
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, garlic, parsley, and dill (if using).
- Arrange the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon the herb mixture over the salmon, making sure to coat the tops and sides.
- Place the lemon slices around the salmon fillets.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The flesh should be opaque and slightly pink in the center.
Tips:
- For a richer flavor, let the salmon come to room temperature for about 15 minutes before baking.
- Don’t overcook the salmon! It will become dry and tough.
- To test for doneness, gently press the center of the salmon fillet with your finger. If it flakes easily, it’s cooked through.
- You can substitute other herbs for parsley and dill, such as basil, thyme, or rosemary.
- For a crispy skin, broil the salmon for the last minute or two of cooking. Watch it closely to avoid burning.
- Serve baked salmon with roasted vegetables, rice, or quinoa for a complete and healthy meal.
- Leftover baked salmon can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
