Maple Mustard Baked Salmon
This recipe creates a delicious and simple baked salmon with a sweet and tangy maple mustard glaze.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 teaspoon fresh)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 (4-ounce) skin-on salmon fillets
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, maple syrup, olive oil, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops of the salmon generously with the maple mustard glaze.
- Bake the salmon for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through. The flesh should be opaque and the skin should be crispy.
- Broil the salmon for an additional 1-2 minutes if you prefer a crispier skin. Watch closely to avoid burning.
- Serve the salmon immediately with the remaining glaze spooned over the top.
Tips:
- For a thicker glaze, whisk together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with a little water before adding it to the glaze mixture.
- If you don’t have Dijon mustard, you can use whole-grain mustard or even yellow mustard in a pinch.
- Want to add some veggies? Roast asparagus or broccoli alongside the salmon on the baking sheet for a complete meal.
- You can use fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or dill instead of dried herbs. Add them to the glaze or sprinkle them on top of the salmon before baking.
- Leftover baked salmon can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave.
