Recipe: Banana Bread Layer Cake

Ingredients:

For the cake:

* 3 large ripe bananas, mashed
* 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
* 2 large eggs
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature

For the caramel drizzle:

* 1 cup heavy cream
* 1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1/4 cup unsalted butter
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the whipped cream:

* 2 cups heavy cream
* 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch (23cm) round cake pans.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed bananas, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Beat just until combined.

8. For the whipped cream, beat heavy cream and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until stiff peaks form.
