Beef Sweet Potato Sliders
These sliders are a delicious and healthy twist on classic hamburgers. Sweet potato buns replace traditional buns, offering a touch of sweetness and extra nutrients.
Ingredients:
- For the Sweet Potato Buns:
- 1 large sweet potato
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Pinch of salt and black pepper
- For the Beef Patties:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- For the Toppings (choose your favorites):
- Shredded lettuce
- Sliced tomato
- Red onion slices
- Pickles
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Mayonnaise
- Sriracha mayo (mayo mixed with sriracha)
Cooking Guide:
- Prepare the Sweet Potato Buns: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Wash and slice the sweet potato into rounds about 1/4-inch thick. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and toss to coat. Arrange the sweet potato slices on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until tender.
- Make the Beef Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine. Form the mixture into small patties, about the size of your sweet potato rounds.
- Cook the Beef Patties: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add a drizzle of oil and cook the beef patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Assemble the Sliders: Once the sweet potato buns and beef patties are cooked, assemble your sliders! Place a beef patty on top of a sweet potato round. Add your desired toppings like lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and your choice of sauce. Top with another sweet potato round and enjoy!
Tips:
- Use a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter to create uniform-sized sweet potato buns.
- For a cheeseburger twist, add a slice of your favorite cheese on top of the patty before adding the top bun.
- Leftover cooked patties can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave before assembling the sliders.
- To make the sliders ahead of time, prepare the sweet potato buns and beef patties according to the instructions. Assemble the sliders just before serving.
