Quick Broccoli Sausage Sheet Pan
This recipe is a fuss-free weeknight dinner that’s big on flavor. Everything cooks on a single sheet pan for minimal cleanup!
Ingredients:
- 1 large head of broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1 pound (16 oz) sausage links, sliced (your favorite type)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a large bowl, toss the broccoli florets, sausage slices, olive oil, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Make sure everything is evenly coated.
- Spread the mixture out on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
- Roast for 20-25 minutes, stirring the ingredients halfway through, until the broccoli is tender-crisp and the sausage is cooked through. The sausage should be browned and no longer pink in the center.
- (Optional) If you like your cheese melted, remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the top. Return the pan to the oven and broil for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Tips:
- For a heartier meal, add diced red onion or bell pepper to the sheet pan along with the broccoli.
- If your broccoli florets are large, cut them into smaller pieces for more even cooking.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan. This will prevent the vegetables and sausage from browning properly. Use two baking sheets if necessary.
- Change up the flavors by using different types of sausage, such as spicy Italian sausage, chicken sausage, or chorizo.
- You can also substitute other vegetables for the broccoli, such as Brussels sprouts, asparagus, or cauliflower.
- Serve this dish with a side of brown rice, quinoa, or roasted potatoes for a complete meal.
