Easy Flavorful Salmon Tacos
These tacos are packed with flavor and come together in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless salmon fillets, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp ground cumin
- 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 Tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
- 12 corn tortillas
- Toppings (choose your favorites!):
- Chopped red onion
- Cilantro
- Cotija cheese
- Sliced avocado
- Crema or sour cream
- Lime wedges
Cooking Guide:
- Season the salmon: In a bowl, combine chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss the salmon cubes in the spice mixture until well coated.
- Cook the salmon: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the salmon cubes and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and flaky.
- Warm the tortillas: While the salmon cooks, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds per side, or wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwave for 30 seconds.
- Assemble the tacos: Fill each tortilla with cooked salmon, your favorite toppings, and a squeeze of lime juice.
Tips:
- Don’t overcook the salmon: Salmon cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook it or it will become dry.
- Use fresh spices: Fresh spices will give the salmon the most flavor. If your spices are older, you may want to use a bit more.
- Make it a complete meal: Serve these tacos with a side of rice, beans, or a salad for a well-rounded meal.
- Leftovers? Leftover cooked salmon can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can use it in salads, sandwiches, or fish cakes.
- For a spicier taco: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the spice mixture.
- Change up the toppings: Get creative with your toppings! Try a slaw made with cabbage, carrots, and a light vinaigrette, or a creamy avocado crema.
