Parmesan Baked Shrimp

This recipe is a simple and delicious way to prepare shrimp. The parmesan cheese creates a crispy, flavorful crust, and the garlic adds a wonderful aroma.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined (around 21-25 shrimp per pound)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • ⅓ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Cooking Guide:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
  2. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. This will help the parmesan cheese adhere better.
  3. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Toss the shrimp in the mixture to coat evenly.
  4. Spread the shrimp in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the shrimp.
  6. Bake for 7-8 minutes, then switch your oven to broil. Broil the shrimp for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the parmesan cheese is golden brown and the shrimp are cooked through and pink. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough.
  7. Serve immediately with lemon wedges for squeezing over the shrimp.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use melted butter instead of olive oil.
  • You can add a pinch of dried oregano or thyme to the spice mix for extra flavor.
  • If you don’t have panko breadcrumbs, you can use regular breadcrumbs or crushed crackers.
  • For a more visually appealing presentation, serve the shrimp over a bed of rice or quinoa.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. However, shrimp is best enjoyed fresh.
