Ingredients:

  • 2 packages instant ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)
  • 1 cup water (or vegetable broth)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (or chili oil)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 green onion, chopped (optional)
  • Additional toppings (optional): cooked chicken, tofu, vegetables, fried egg

Cooking Guide:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together water (or broth), soy sauce, brown sugar, sriracha, sesame oil, and garlic.
  2. Cook the ramen noodles according to package instructions. Drain the noodles, reserving about 1/4 cup of the cooking water.
  3. Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the sauce mixture and bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the drained ramen noodles and reserved cooking water to the pan. Toss to coat the noodles in the sauce.
  5. Simmer for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onion (optional). Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips:

  • For a thicker sauce, add a cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water) to the sauce while simmering.
  • Get creative with your toppings! Diced vegetables like carrots, broccoli, or mushrooms can be added to the pan with the sauce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a pan over low heat.
