Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp And Broccoli

Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp and Broccoli

This recipe is a quick and easy weeknight meal that’s bursting with flavor. The honey garlic sauce is sweet, savory, and slightly spicy, and it coats the plump shrimp and tender broccoli perfectly.

Ingredients:

  • For the marinade:
    • ½ cup honey
    • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
    • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
    • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • For the shrimp and broccoli:
    • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 2 cups broccoli florets
    • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Cooking Guide:

  1. Make the marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, red pepper flakes (if using), and cornstarch.
  2. Marinate the shrimp: Place the shrimp in a bowl and pour half of the marinade over them. Toss to coat and let marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for extra flavor.
  3. Cook the broccoli: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until slightly softened and bright green. Remove the broccoli from the pan and set aside.
  4. Cook the shrimp: Add the butter to the pan and melt it over medium heat. Add the shrimp (discarding the marinade) and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque.
  5. Thicken the sauce: Pour the remaining marinade into the pan and bring to a simmer. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Assemble and serve: Add the cooked broccoli back to the pan with the shrimp and sauce. Toss to coat everything evenly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve immediately over rice or noodles.

Tips:

  • For extra flavor: Marinate the shrimp for longer. 30 minutes will give the shrimp more intense honey-garlic flavor.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp: Shrimp cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook them or they will become tough and rubbery.
  • Adjust the spice level: If you don’t like spicy food, omit the red pepper flakes. You can also add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the finished dish for a little heat.
  • Serve with sides: This dish pairs well with rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables.
  • Use different vegetables: You can substitute the broccoli with other vegetables like asparagus, snow peas, or bell peppers.
