Blt Sandwich With The Best Sauce

BLT Sandwich with The Best Sauce

This recipe takes the classic BLT to a new level with a creamy, flavorful sauce.

Ingredients:

  • For the Sandwich:
    • 2 slices of high-quality bread (sourdough, wheat, or your favorite)
    • 4-5 slices of thick-cut bacon
    • 1 large tomato, sliced
    • Handful of red leaf lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • For the Best Sauce:
    • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons sour cream
    • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard

Cooking Guide:

  1. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, and yellow mustard until smooth. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Bacon: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Toast the Bread (Optional): If desired, toast the bread slices in a toaster or pan with a little butter until lightly golden brown.
  4. Assemble the Sandwich: Spread the sauce generously on one side of each bread slice. Layer half the lettuce leaves on one slice, followed by the tomato slices. Top with the cooked bacon and then the remaining lettuce leaves. Close the sandwich with the other bread slice, sauce side facing inwards.
  5. Cut and Serve: Cut the sandwich in half diagonally and enjoy!

Tips:

  • For the best tomato slices, choose vine-ripened tomatoes that are firm but juicy.
  • If you don’t have sour cream, you can substitute with plain Greek yogurt.
  • Want to add a bit of a kick? Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce.
  • To prevent the bread from getting soggy, toast it before assembling the sandwich.
  • This recipe is easily doubled or tripled to feed a crowd.
  • You can also use different types of bread, such as rye or a toasted ciabatta roll.
  • For a vegetarian BLT, skip the bacon and add sliced avocado instead.
