Honey Glazed Salmon
This recipe is for a simple and flavorful honey-glazed salmon that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The glaze is made with honey, soy sauce, and a touch of garlic, and it gives the salmon a beautiful caramelized crust.
Ingredients:
- 4 salmon fillets (6-ounce each, skin-on or skinless)
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If using skin-on salmon, place the fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Brush the salmon fillets generously with the glaze.
- Bake the salmon for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Baste the salmon with the remaining glaze in the pan halfway through cooking for extra flavor.
- If the glaze starts to burn, you can tent the baking sheet with aluminum foil for the last few minutes of cooking.
Tips:
- For a thicker glaze, simmer the glaze in a saucepan over medium heat for a few minutes before brushing it on the salmon.
- You can add a teaspoon of sriracha or Dijon mustard to the glaze for a little bit of a kick.
- If you don’t have fresh garlic, you can use ½ teaspoon of garlic powder instead.
- Serve the salmon with roasted vegetables, rice, or quinoa.
Additional Tips:
- To check if the salmon is cooked through, insert a flaky fork into the thickest part of the fillet. If the salmon flakes easily and is opaque throughout, it is cooked.
- Let the salmon rest for a few minutes after taking it out of the oven before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the fish.
- You can also cook the salmon on the stovetop. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the salmon for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
