Chili Cheese Dog Bake
This recipe combines the fun of chili cheese dogs with the ease of a casserole. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a fun party dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 (14.5 oz) can chili (your favorite kind works!)
- 1 (15 oz) package refrigerated pizza dough
- 4 hot dogs
- 4 cheddar cheese sticks
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
- Optional toppings: chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, jalapeños, sour cream
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the chili evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Unroll the pizza dough and cut it into 4 equal strips.
- Cut each cheese stick in half lengthwise. Wrap one half of a cheese stick around each hot dog.
- Place each hot dog wrapped in cheese on a dough strip. Roll up the dough, enclosing the hot dog and cheese.
- Brush the tops of the dough rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and parsley flakes.
- Arrange the dough rolls seam-side down in the baking dish on top of the chili.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Tips:
- For a spicier dish, use a hot chili or add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the chili before spreading it in the pan.
- If you don’t have cheese sticks, you can use shredded cheddar cheese instead. Sprinkle about 1/2 cup of shredded cheese over each hot dog before rolling them in the dough.
- Get creative with your toppings! Chopped onion, chopped tomatoes, jalapeños, sour cream, or your favorite hot dog condiments all work well.
- This recipe can be easily doubled to feed a crowd. Just use a larger baking dish and adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
