Easy Salmon Patties

These salmon patties are a delicious and healthy way to enjoy salmon. They’re easy to make and can be served on a bun, with a salad, or on their own.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (14.75 ounce) can canned salmon, flaked
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon dried dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Guide:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, olive oil, lemon juice, and dill. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Mix gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, or the patties will be tough.
  3. Form the mixture into 4-6 patties.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil if needed.
  5. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Tips:

  • For a more flavorful patty, you can use leftover cooked salmon instead of canned salmon. Just flake the salmon and add it to the bowl with the other ingredients.
  • If the mixture seems too dry, you can add a tablespoon or two of milk or reserved liquid from the canned salmon.
  • You can also bake the salmon patties instead of frying them. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the patties on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  • Serve the salmon patties on a hamburger bun with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, and tartar sauce. They can also be served with a side of lemon wedges, dill sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.
  • Leftover salmon patties can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them gently in a skillet over medium heat or in the microwave.
