Grilled Salmon with Lemon Herb Marinade
This recipe creates delicious and flavorful grilled salmon fillets with a simple lemon herb marinade.
Ingredients:
- 2 salmon fillets (around 6 oz each), skin-on
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Cooking Guide:
-
Marinate the salmon: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, parsley, dill, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Place the salmon fillets in the marinade, making sure they are coated evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
-
Prepare the grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 450°F). If using a gas grill, preheat for 10 minutes with the lid closed. Oil the grates lightly to prevent sticking.
-
Grill the salmon: Remove the salmon fillets from the marinade and discard the marinade. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels. Place the salmon fillets on the preheated grill, skin-side down. Grill for 5-7 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and begins to release from the grates.
-
Flip and cook through: Carefully flip the salmon fillets using a wide spatula. Reduce the heat to medium-low if needed. Grill for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature of the thickest part of the salmon should reach 145°F.
-
Serve: Remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with your favorite sides, like grilled vegetables, rice, or a salad.
Tips:
- Use high-quality, fresh salmon fillets for the best results.
- Make sure your grill is hot enough to sear the salmon quickly, which helps prevent sticking and keeps the fish moist.
- Don’t overcook the salmon. It will continue to cook slightly even after removing it from the grill.
- To check for doneness, gently press the center of the salmon with your finger. It should feel slightly firm but still flake easily.
- For an extra smoky flavor, add a few wood chips to your grill during preheating.
- If you don’t have fresh herbs, you can substitute 1 teaspoon of dried herbs for each tablespoon of fresh herbs.
- Leftover grilled salmon can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
