Amazing Ranch Baked Fish (Quick and Easy)
This recipe is perfect for a weeknight meal prep or a casual weekend dinner. Bursting with ranch flavor and a cheesy topping, it’s a crowd-pleaser that’s ready in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs skinless, boneless white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, halibut all work well)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 packet (or 1 tablespoon) ranch dressing mix
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or sheet pan.
- Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Arrange the fish fillets in a single layer.
- In a small bowl, combine the ranch dressing mix with 2 tablespoons of water (or milk for a creamier texture) to make a pourable sauce.
- Pour the ranch dressing sauce evenly over the fish fillets.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the fish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and the cheese is golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley (optional) and serve immediately.
Tips:
- For a thicker crust, before adding the ranch sauce, dredge the fish fillets in a mixture of panko breadcrumbs and ranch dressing mix.
- Want to add a kick? Drizzle the fish with a teaspoon of hot sauce before adding the ranch dressing.
- Don’t overcook the fish! It will become dry and tough. 15-20 minutes is usually sufficient for most white fish fillets.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- To reheat, place the fish in a baking dish and cover with foil. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 5-10 minutes, or until heated through.
