Flaky Baked Salmon with Garlic Mayo
This recipe creates delicious flaky salmon with a flavorful garlic mayo topping.
Ingredients:
- 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each), skin-on or skinless (your preference)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon dried dill (or 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: Pinch of red pepper flakes (for a bit of spice)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Cooking Guide:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, dill, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Spread the garlic mayo mixture evenly over the top of the salmon fillets.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through. The flesh should be opaque and not translucent in the center.
- Garnish with fresh parsley (optional) and serve immediately.
Tips:
- For extra crispy skin (if using skin-on salmon), broil the fish for an additional 1-2 minutes after baking, watching closely to avoid burning.
- To ensure even cooking, use salmon fillets that are similar in thickness.
- Don’t overcook the salmon! It will continue to cook slightly even after removing it from the oven.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a richer flavor, use full-fat mayonnaise.
- This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled to feed a crowd.
- Want to change it up? Experiment with different herbs in the garlic mayo, such as chives, oregano, or thyme.
Enjoy your flaky and flavorful baked salmon with garlic mayo!
