These peppers are a delicious and fun twist on classic pizza! You can customize them with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (15 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Toppings of your choice: pepperoni, sliced olives, mushrooms, chopped ham, crumbled cooked Italian sausage

Cooking Guide:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the peppers: Wash the bell peppers and cut them in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and membranes.
  3. Brown the meat and vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or sausage until browned. Drain any excess grease. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Simmer the sauce: Stir in the diced tomatoes, marinara sauce, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Stuff the peppers: Divide the meat sauce mixture evenly among the pepper halves. Top with mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake: Arrange the stuffed peppers in a baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Add additional toppings (optional): During the last 5 minutes of baking, you can add your favorite pizza toppings like pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, cooked ham, or crumbled cooked Italian sausage.
